Compulsive eating is an addiction to food and food related behaviors and is characterized by uncontrollable eating. It is not uncommon for someone suffering from compulsive eating to consume upwards of 3,500 calories in one binge.
compulsive eating generally takes place several times a week for a period no less than four months.
